Works to protected trees — whether covered by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or in a conservation area — require either formal consent or prior notification, depending on the type of protection. Both are free to apply for.

When to Use This Application Type
Use when you want to prune, fell, top, or otherwise carry out works to a tree in a conservation area or a tree with a Tree Preservation Order. You must notify the council at least 6 weeks before starting works.
